Letters of Appreciation
24.3.2010
Dear Anne and Alan,
I am writing to you this combined letter because you have all both had a very positive impact in my life, by investing in me something that will remain forever, something that no one on earth will ever be able to replace or remove.
Few months ago, on a gracious note, I was called by Anne advising me that she had been able to find ‘someone’, she believes is good enough to do some driving with me. I was in the amazement of heaven to hear such a thing as I was getting worried about my license which became like a flower in my wallet. As you might guess, I was more than excited for touching and going on wheel for my very first time in life.
After few days have passed, I came to meet that ‘someone’, Alan, who on the spot gave me an impression of a serious worker, credible in his beliefs for life, mature enough and potentially experienced to make an inapt a capable man and a man of reference in the society.
Much can be said here…I just don’t have the right words to express my feelings about it.
You might wonder why I have waited so long to express my gratitude to you. It is not that I have forgotten about this goodness of yours in my life, but, I was waiting to get my license at hand, absorb it and re-confirm that really I am also now qualified to drive legally. You all know that what you have done is extremely beyond all understanding. It is immesurable and some people who have heard of it are still calling me: ‘’a lucky boy’’. In fact, I am not a lucky boy as they presume, I just think I am just a gracious one, who with no preference found favour in the eyes of you people.
I can’t thank enough, but once more I’d like to reiterate my full gratefulness.
To Alan, I thank you for the times of sacrifice when you gave up some of the things- even your family life- to come to MRC or else where just for me. I can imagine the times of unpleasant weather, the hot and very hot days, and the wet days when your body at the age you are can only ask for relaxation and rest. Thank you for your commitment and your patience in seeing me coming out of ignorance. Thank you for giving of your skills to me, your knowledge. Thank you for the 2-5 minutes ‘’cultural moments’’ at the beach (BlackMan’s bay), mountain, and other…you have fascinated my spirit by your sense of selfless service, love and comprehension. Yes on this note, I am also grateful for the times when I could not make it… or I came late… and you understood me. Thank you for everything. Thank you and thank you again. As I can’t finish, as a human being, I will certainly find a way to show you my gratitude.
To MRC, I don’t even know if there is any other thing I can say except thank you. I don’t know who to thank, Cedric, Anne, or Gavin, …you have all contributed.
I am shortened by words…\but before I finished, I would like to ask you to continue the good works you are doing. I know no one on earth can reward you enough but God can. Please do not allow me to be the first and/or the last for this kind of favor. Because if we want to see a change in our communities, we have to try the best of our efforts to educate as many people as we can. This is exactly how we are going to avoid ‘’negative coalitions ‘’ between the police and young Africans.
Once more, thank you.

To: My Dear Friends Kim, Marianne, Migrant R. Centre, 49 Molle Street, Tasmania 7000.
Dear Kim, Marianne and all you good people!
I would like to thank you for my lovely day at the Octoberfest. I'm sorry I'm so late writing but I am having so many problems with my shoulder and neck and now it is even going into my ears. But what do you do? When you get old, everything starts going wrong.
After 57 years it is the first time I've gone to the Octoberfest, even though I'm German. Thank you Kim and Marianne for especially looking for transport. You are really wonderful people and I surely appreciate it.
It was lovely to hear German music, German songs and food - sausages and sauerkraut. And for dessert, black forest cake. Oh, not to forget really Bretzel just everything was delicious and brought back lots of memories. I met quite a few people I haven't seen for years so that was a bonus as well.
Thanks once more dearest friend. I really appreciate all your hard work.
Thanks once more for all your hard work and love and thanks for my Octoberfest.

Here by I would like to express to you my grateful thanks for helping me in settling in Tasmania, Hobart and that by supporting and encouraging me to participate in the new life which I was about to start with your help. I am proud to tell you that I had made a good start by following your instruction and the Guide lines that you provided me with to know how the process and the system goes here. What ever I say will not express the feeling of thanks and appreciation for what you have done for us and let me tell you that you had become the hero of my Family and that all of them know you by name and looking forward to see you one day.

Announcing a New Partnership
Announcing a New Partnership between the Migrant Resource Centre (Southern Tasmania) Inc. and the Diversional Therapy Association of Tasmania Inc.
On Wednesday the 27th of February, 2008 the Migrant Resource Centre and The Diversional Therapy Association of Tasmania celebrated signing a partnership agreement between the organisations. Held at 2.30 pm in the Acacia Meeting Room of the Migrant Resource Centre, 49 Molle Street, Hobart, the event was well attended by Migrant Resource Centre staff and diversional therapists from around the state.
The Partnership Agreement outlines the commitment of the Migrant Resource Centre & Diversional Therapy Association of Tasmania to work collaboratively to provide better services and support for older members of Tasmania’s migrant communities living in residential aged care around the State.
This partnership means that there will be:
- A better understanding of the needs and communication styles of migrant communities
- A new and beneficial partnership between migrant communities and residential aged care services
It is expected that the partnership will provide advice and assistance in relation to the current issues for migrant community residents in residential aged care. This will be guided by the Migrant Resource Centre’s Community Partners Program which now works jointly with Diversional Therapists and Leisure and Lifestyle staff from around Tasmania.
The Migrant Resource Centre’s Community Partners Program is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Ageing.
The Community Partnership between the two organisations will include consultation and information to community members to ensure appropriate service provision with respect to lifestyle including culture, language, food and leisure activities. The partnership will also support community development, education and training opportunities for members of both organisations as appropriate. Where relevant it will provide referrals and links to other communities and aged care services.
The migrant communities in Tasmania represent a vital component of a thriving society and the ageing experience brings unique challenges that deserve our focused attention and energy. It is the ambition of the partnership to develop pathways for dialogue that promote free and open expression of the concerns and hopes of these communities for the type and style of care they may look forward to in the future, in Tasmania.
The launch was attended by a number of community members and representatives from DoHA, MRC, Advocacy Tasmania and Diversional Therapists who expressed enthusiasm at the opportunity for more access to community representatives, information and resources to further facilitate meeting the needs of Cultural And Linguistically Diverse (CALD) communities in Tasmania.
