Youth Program
The Youth Project is for young migrants and refugees aged between 12 and 25 years.
A range of activities are run through the MRC's Youth Project these including service visits, school visits and training to relevant youth service providers. One off events are also held throughout the year such as the "Kids and Families Beach Day Out", the "Kids and Families Mountain Day Out" and the "Sense of Belonging Camp". Many other pursuits take place under the school summer holiday project including sport and other recreational events such as Bonza Junior Soccer, the MY Voice Youth Group and the Blossom Young Women's Group.
Case management in the youth program supports individuals when issues arise with advocacy/referrals to appropriate services.
The Youth Worker can assist with issues that make it easier to settle in Tasmania. These include:
-
Relationships with family and friends.
-
Employment, housing and finances.
-
Problems at school, college or university.
-
Feeling isolated, lonely or bored.
-
Provide case management and school visits.
